(Baba’s Favourite Ukrainian Desert)

Yields1 Serving
 ½ cup cup milk
 1 tbsp yeast
 4 tsp sugar
 1 cup shortening
 3 cups flour
 1 tsp salt
 2 eggs

Heat milk to 100 degrees F and then add yeast and sugar. Let rise for 10 min.

Add the flour, salt and shortening together to a course crumble like a pie crust. Add the two beaten eggs and yeast mixture by cutting in like you would for a pie crust and place in bowl and cover. Place in fridge at least overnight.

Mix 1 cup of white sugar with 2 tsp. of cinnamon. Sprinkle some of cinnamon sugar mixture on the table top so that you can roll out the dough onto. Take half the dough and roll out so that it is about ¼ “ or 1cm thick. Spread the dough with a jam then cut into triangles and roll into small crescents and place on a cookie sheet and let rise for 1 hour before cookie. Cook at 300 degrees F for 15-20 min.
