1 cup shortening
¾ cup br. Sugar
¾ cup white sugar
1 ½ cups flour
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup chocolate chips
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp water
½ cup white sugar for coating cookies before cooking.

Cream shortening.

Add brown Sugar and white sugar and salt. cream well until fluffy.

Mix in eggs, vanilla, and hot water.

Sift flour, baking soda, and salt. Add all dry ingredients and mix.

Drop cookie dough by the tsp. onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
